Connect Billabex to ChatGPT

Create a Billabex MCP app in ChatGPT developer mode and test read, then write, under admin control.

Updated

In short

ChatGPT currently supports full MCP apps in beta on the web for Business, Enterprise, and Edu workspaces. An admin must allow developer mode, then create the Billabex app with its official MCP URL. Test it privately and with read access first; modify actions display an explicit confirmation before they run.

Expected result

The Billabex app is available in the authorized workspace and answers a read request without changing data.

Before you start

  • Use a compatible ChatGPT workspace and the corresponding admin, owner, or authorized developer role.
  • Get the MCP URL from Settings > Integrations in Billabex.

Procedure

  1. An admin enables developer mode in workspace permissions; on Enterprise or Edu, access can be delegated by role.
  2. In app settings, choose to create a custom app and name it Billabex.
  3. Enter the official MCP URL, complete OAuth, and check the requested Billabex scopes.
  4. Keep the app private during testing and request a targeted read from a known organization.
  5. Before workspace publication, review exposed tools and test the confirmation for a write action without approving that action.

What Billabex does

Developer mode is managed by the workspace and its interface may change during beta. ChatGPT displays confirmation before modify operations; that confirmation complements OAuth scopes but does not replace reviewing the target and parameters.

If the result is not what you expected

  • If developer mode is absent, check the plan, use ChatGPT web, and review workspace policy.
  • If the app sees no data, reconnect OAuth and check the organization and mcp:read scope.
  • Do not publish an app until its URL, permissions, and write actions have been verified.
